Mexico Wins takes the most popular aspects of Mexico and injects them into a neon-soaked slot, combining authentic music and original symbols with a nice collection of features.
Developed by Booming Games and released in 2018, Mexico Wins is part of the games series that are based around neon symbols on a black background. Other slots made by this developer are Royal Wins, Cuba Nights and Miami Nights! It seems to be a popular framework for the creators, and I can see why.
The game is built out of a 5-reel, 3-row playing field with an impressive 30 paylines. This is actually more than I’ve seen in most Booming Games slots. Coupled with the Pay Both Ways feature this makes it a lot more likely to get a winning payline. That’s why it wasn’t a surprise to me that there was a Low Volatility associated with the slot, which matched my experience while playing.
Mexico Wins is very similar in appearance when compared to the games I listed before. The neon graphics make it look like the symbols are signs hung over the door of a Mexican bar. They are all different enough to easily tell apart, although I found some to be a little bland in their colouring.
The music fits the theme as well, playing traditional Mexican band music with even some singing thrown in! The winning paylines trigger a short jingle that disrupts the sound somewhat but they aren’t too overbearing.
Symbols
The symbols in Mexico Wins are largely original and the few that aren’t are designed in such a way to effortlessly fit in with the other symbols. They are all slightly animated when part of a win but this mostly consists of them flashing and the winning payline lighting up.
The symbols are from highest to lowest:
As you can probably tell the coin value for wins is extremely low, with the bottom 3 Symbols not even making your initial bet back with a five-of-a-kind win. I’m always hesitant to play slots like these, even with its low volatility, since winning doesn’t necessarily mean a positive effect on my funds.
Features
The usual Booming Games features make yet another appearance in Mexico Slot, although it is now slightly spiced up with some changes to the normal approach. For starters, let’s go over the different features:
The one feature I haven’t seen in a Booming Games slot before is the Pays Both Ways feature that’s enabled all the time. Miami Nights has a 2-WayPay feature which required 2 symbols to trigger this feature for a few spins, but Mexico Wins has them enabled continuously. This also explains the low volatility since the combination with 30 paylines means it’s very likely to get a win.
In my experience, I did get at least 1 winning payline each spin but due to their low coin value, it wouldn’t often feel very important. While playing at the lowest bet, which can be between $0.01 and $300 per spin, some symbols only paid out fractions of a cent. Even if it makes sense, it’s just not very exciting to see that.
Mexico Wins has Multiplier Wilds, which can appear anywhere on the screen. These Wilds have a 3x multiplier value attached to them. I found it a little confusing that these Wilds don’t show themselves unless part of a win, otherwise they look exactly the same as a regular Wild. I’m not sure why they made this choice.
In Conclusion
Mexico Wins is another slot in the Wins/Nights series of games with the neon graphics and black background. It’s simple and effective and by making the symbols unique to the game it does a good job at differentiating itself from other games with a similar setting.
With low volatility, 30 paylines and Pays Both Ways it made sense that the coin values for wins were very low. It was likely there were multiple winning paylines at any one time, which helped in creating bigger wins but it still felt difficult to get any real increases to my funds.
Playing Mexico Wins is quite fun but also largely unimpressive when compared to the rest of the Booming Games library. They all blend together, especially this series with the neon signs and black background. Except for the inspiration taken from different places, there is very little keeping these slots apart from each other.
Finally, the max. win of 600x your bet is quite low and makes it yet harder to recommend this slot. If you have some special connection with Mexico you might appreciate the setting, and the game is perfect for players that like seeing a whole lot of wins without caring too much about their value.

I've been playing videoslots for almost 10 years and been a professional reviewer for over 5. I look at slots not just as a writer but also as a player, hoping to help others find their perfect slot.
I also enjoy movies, books and travel so any slots with those topics usually have my preference. But in general I'll play everything!
