Slot tester's review: Martin Anastasov
Slot tested
Mr. Vegas is all about the thrill and glamour of Las Vegas as seen through the eyes of a high-stakes roller who is living out his dream, which in this game is worth 75,000x your bet.
I've seen a number of Vegas-themed slots, ranging from the bad to the bizarre (Vampire: The Masquerade - Las Vegas), but I find this Betsoft game to be unique because of the colourful and lively design.
A curious fact - Mr. Vegas is a progressive jackpot game and that means the top prize increases with every single bet that's made on the game across many dozens of interlinked casinos.
The buy-in to play for the progressive jackpot is kind of steep because the player has to roll with the Max Bet option in order to become eligible for the prize and that costs 5x more than your selected bet.
Nevertheless, you don't have to bet 1.50 or more in order to enjoy the game because the base game is quite alright and because there are four unique casino games as part of the extra features.
I've played Mr. Vegas on a few occasions and I even pulled several Max Bet spins to try my hand at the progressive jackpot. If you like Vegas from the movies you are definitely going to like Mr. Vegas by Betsoft.
Theme and Graphics
The graphic design is fully Betsoft style and it makes the gaming experience unique and fun. All of the symbols show glimpses of a high-roller's night on the casino floor and a cast of characters that are part of the vibe.
I haven't seen a livelier Las Vegas slot game than the game at hand. Mr. Vegas makes every single winning outcome a celebratory event: the characters spring into action, the roulette wheel turns, the neon sign becomes alight, and plenty of banknotes are thrown across the reel set when you land a big win.
The game makes it obvious that winning is a feel-good affair and it is likely that you'll see plenty of animation to mark that fact since there are few symbols that can pay for two of a kind. If you are into jazzy tunes that are a natural part of the casino landscape then the soundtrack is something you'd want to keep on while you are exploring the various casino games.
Extra Features
There are four bonus games that are in the spirit of Las Vegas. You can get your high-roller friend to play craps, roulette, pull the lever of a classical one-armed bandit or spin the Wheel of Fortune.
There is a non-paying pair of red dice symbol on the paytable. If a single of these symbols lands to the left or to the right of Mr. Vegas on a specific set of paylines, you'll get between two and 12 free spins that come with a 2x win multiplier on all of the potential winnings. Good thing is that you can land the bonus combination more than once and remain at the bonus table some longer.
One of the bonus symbols is a picture of slot machines. You need three to land anywhere on the screen to trigger a mini slot game of three spins. This is a simple game - if you land three symbols on the single payline the game awards you a cash prize.
You won't see the Wheel of Fortune symbol because there isn't one, but if you get five golden wedges on any five symbols on the reel set, Mr. Vegas will award you a pull on the Money Wheel.
One of the plates on the wheel can award you the instant Progressive Jackpot prize if you've triggered the bonus with a Max Bet wager. But even without making that kind of a bet, you can win an instant cash prize, 10 free spins, or a free pass that takes you straight to the roulette table.
Betsoft always has one feature that starts as an animated short before the bonus begins. Here, Mr. Vegas makes a stroll on the carpet with his couple of pretty starlets beside him. While that's tacky the potential prize that you can get from the roulette table isn't and it's fun to play because you get to choose the fields yourself.
Bets and Payouts
Games that were made by Betsoft in 2010 tend to have 30 selectable paylines so that you can really fine-tune your bet if you wanted. To me, it is perfectly sensible to play across all 30 paylines and choose my coin value depending on my potential returns from the game.
Mr. Vegas has decent payouts across the paytable. Since the paytable is dynamic, you can select your coin value and bet level to see what kind of prizes you'd be playing for.
I'll take one penny per payline at the first level to go over the potential payouts. There are three women that are at the top of the paytable - these symbols can pay between 5 and 10 credits for two of a kind and up to 500 for five of a kind.
Symbols in the middle can pay between 30 credits for three of a kind and 250 for five of a kind and the low-paying category, which consists of casino games and a bottle of champagne, can pay between 10 and 125 credits.
Conclusion
Mr. Vegas has a theoretical return to a player value that is slightly greater compared to other Betsoft games from the same period. That value is 93.8%, which is still comparably low to most of the game releases today.
Still, I think this is a true medium variance game so you can expect to see winnings that are low, medium, and large over time. The maximum payout is 75,000x your bet which is quite stunning, however, the progressive prize is as elusive as any jackpot prize in that category.
Overall, the game is visually pleasing, entertaining, and has four extra features - two of which can trigger quite often. I liked Mr. Vegas and I may decide to play it again.

I see life as a chance occurrence, like a one in a gazillion probability that there is a planet within the Goldilocks zone that can support life. Isn't this kind of a jackpot for humankind? Besides science and a good laugh, I like games of chance. I've played on more than 150 slots in the past three years and learned what they do and how they work. I may write a review now and then about some of the slots I come across on my igaming journey. Hopefully, some of the players out there are going to find my opinion useful. Keep it chancy, and best of luck!
