With limited settings and a below-par bonus, this basic casino wasn’t one that I’d want to spend much time at in the future. I had the choice of using PayPal quick registration or going the traditional route of filling in a form of personal details to sign up at this casino. I picked the long way round and started filling in the info with my name, email address, mobile number and date of birth on the first page. The second area was where I added my postal address, and on the final page, I created a username and password of my choosing.

Once I’d completed everything and avoided the dreaded promotional check box, I hit ‘Register’ and arrived at a welcome bonus promotional pop-up a few seconds later. Here I could enter my card details and claim the Mega Reel based bonus offer which I did right away.

The menus and layout here are basic, to say the least. There are pretty much no settings or controls in the ‘My Account’ area, and I had to hunt hard just to find the withdrawal page, which is never a good look. Most of the game menus also seem to offer the same slots but in a different order which makes it look like a limited choice from the start.

I’ll say this from the outset, I’m really not a fan of randomly awarded welcome bonuses which depend on the spin of a wheel. MoneyReels were offering me this exact thing, so I went along with it to see how much I could claim as a first deposit bonus. Immediately after signing up, I saw a pop-up promo for the Mega Reel welcome offer so entered my card details to claim the bonus.

Shortly after I’d clicked on ‘Deposit’, the Mega Reel appeared on the screen, and I clicked the arrow to give it a spin. It landed on ‘50 Spins on Starburst’ and a ‘Play Now’ button appeared which took me directly to the game. Well, it should have done, but the window closed so I had to manually activate the game from the casino lobby. Once Starburst had loaded a pop-up confirmed that I had 50 free rounds to play, so I tapped on ‘Auto Play’ and sat back for a couple of minutes. After playing through all the spins, my bonus balance stood at a rather pathetic £12.81, not the best of welcomes if I’m honest.

The wagering requirement on my Starburst wins was a hefty 65x (B). This meant that I’d need to play through £832 just to release that bonus and there was no way I was up for that. I decided to forfeit the bonus and keep playing with my real cash balance instead.

The first game I tried out was Irish Pot Luck with some £0.40 spins and managed to land a very healthy £18.20 in the free spins round. Then I moved on to Rainbow Jackpots where my luck seemed to evaporate, and I came away a few quid lighter. I finished up my slots session with Chilli Heat, where triggering the bonus round brought me a flaming hot £20 win from my £0.25 spins.

I was pretty disappointed with the thin selection of live streams under the ‘Table Games’ tab as the page was mainly full of video card games instead. I had a few spins of Pragmatic Play Live Roulette and hit a winning streak with my £2 bets on red only. Things weren't so good, however, over at the Live Blackjack table where the dealer beat me several times in a row, so I called it a day.

The gaming experience here was pretty good overall with no technical issues or glitches in any of the live streams or slots I tried out. My main issue here is with the lack of a complete selection of casino games. It’s a real shame that titles like Book of Dead are missing and it can quickly feel like the casino is pushing the lower quality games on you in their ‘Hot Slots’ section.

First up on my small screen, I tried out Wild Lava with some £0.30 spins. I just about broke even thanks to the eruption of wilds I’d collected which landed me a £3.30 win. Book of Gold: Double Chance was my next stop where I won just enough to keep things ticking over but nothing worth reporting. Returning to the Irish theme, I plumbed for Wild Wild Riches with my last few spins, but my luck had truly dried up by this point, so I called it a day here.

I have no complaints with the loading and playing of the games I tried, everything was smooth, and I didn’t experience any glitches on the mobile site. However, when I was using the Chrome browser on my Android mobile device, the games lobbies kept freezing up. This meant that I couldn’t scroll up and down through the game, but the menus were still working. This became annoying pretty quickly and gave me the feeling that this casino isn’t very well built for mobile use. Plus, there’s an annoying bottom menu with quick links to Starburst and Fluffy Favourites for some reason adding up to an all-round poor mobile casino experience.

The ‘Contact Us’ page gave me two rather disappointing options; I could either read the FAQ page for help or send an email to the support team. Having already enjoyed the basic offering of the FAQ page, I decided to send an email and hope for the best. I included my username, date of birth and postcode as I knew that casinos tend to ask for this info to confirm who they are emailing with. No matter how many times I do this, it never feels secure, and I always prefer live chat whenever possible.

It took 15 hours to get a short and sharp response from the support team. This isn’t really an ideal turn around if you have an urgent question and the lack of live chat support means that MoneyReels loses a couple of marks here.

When I first attempted to make a withdrawal, I got a pop-up message informing me that my account was being reviewed. It mentioned that this is a standard practice and the checks should be completed within 48 hours unless further details were needed. I always find it pretty annoying when a casino lets me signup, deposit my money and play throws up an issue like this when I want to cash out my winnings. I’d much rather they do the full verification before letting me play and win.

I can’t say exactly how long these checks took because, despite saying that I’d get an email telling me when they were complete, I didn’t. Logging back in around 3 days later, I was able to make a withdrawal request, but a message confirming the checks were completed would have been nice!

Searching around the site for more information, I didn’t find anything beyond the few lines mentioning ID documents on the FAQ page. This was very basic and just gave an email address to send the required documents to. There was no sign of an upload portal or dedicated verification page here which was a big disappointment. Using email just never feels as secure and always seems to slow the process down.

A full check was triggered by my initial withdrawal request, and so I emailed in the requested images of my driving licence for ID and a recent bank statement as proof of address. It took just 22 hours for the team at MoneyReels to complete verification checks which then unlocked my withdrawal request an hour later. On its own, this is a pretty decent turn around time, but given the previous 48-hour wait it’s not a great first verification experience at this casino.

Right after creating a new account, I got a pop-up inviting me to add my card details and claim the Mega Reel welcome offer. I filled in the basic form with my card name, number, expiry date and security code. It appeared that I could only select one of the pre-set deposit amounts here, so I clicked on £50, even though this is a little more than I wanted to spend. I really don’t see why they can’t just let players add exactly what they want to deposit above the minimum amount. Hitting the big green ‘Deposit Now’ button, it took around 10 seconds for the funds to land in my account.

After the initial checks on my account were completed, I was able to submit my withdrawal request using the cashier section of the site. This was all pretty simple as my card details were already saved, and all I needed to do was enter the cash out amount and click on ‘Withdraw’. This triggered a pop-up stating that I’d be losing my bonus balance and I clicked to confirm this. I then got a ‘Review’ box that displayed the £2.50 fee, which would be taken from my withdrawn cash total. I checked the box to confirm that I had understood all this and hit ‘Confirm’ and had to re-enter my password. I landed on a confirmation screen which said that the casino would need further documentation to verify my account.

I sent in my images of the requested documents and got an email to say that my account was fully verified 22 hours later. Around 1 hour after this, I received another email stating that my withdrawal request had been approved and should hit my bank account within 3 days. It actually landed in my account immediately after being approved, so there was thankfully no further waiting here.

I had a pretty smooth banking experience overall, but it’s just a shame about the pre-selected deposit amounts and that pesky £2.50 withdrawal fee.
