Nothing better than cold, refreshing fruits on a scorching hot summer day. Pick your favourites fresh from Fruit Shop Megaways and mix them into a delicious smoothie fit for winners! Fruit Shop Megaways will be released in the first months of 2021.
If you’ve been playing slots for a while, you’re probably familiar with NetEnt’s slots and some of their classics - Fruit Shop being one of them. The fruit-filled slot game was released back in 2011 and it offered an interesting feature of rewarding the player with free spins. Free spins, of course, were nothing new but the method of triggering them was; get a high-value symbol win, get free spins each time.
Fruit Shop got a sequel in 2015 when Fruit Shop Christmas Edition hit the casinos. However, this version didn’t offer anything new. It was exactly the same game, but with holiday theme painted on and some improvements to the music and graphics. So, Fruit Shop Megaways is the third sequel to the old classic and adds the famous Megaways feature, plus win multipliers to the free spins!
Fruit Shop Megaways will soon be available at casinos that offer NetEnt games, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for it! If you can’t possibly wait, do go on and read the rest of my review as I got a little head-start with the demo version!
Graphics and sound
It’s not hard to surpass the first Fruit Shop in the terms of graphics and sound, as it’s already been 10 years since the release date of the original. If you play the classic slot today, it will surely stick out like a sore thumb in a way - clunky reels and practically no music at all, excluding the effect sounds.
Fruit Shop Megaways still stays true to the original slot in almost every way possible. The graphics are smoother and the background has some slight movement provided by the clouds and the grass, but that’s it. If we look past the sixth reel and the whole Megaways feature, it looks very much the same as the first one. A bit ascetic, but still inviting.
The music makes the greatest difference, though. Fruit Shop Megaways has this uplifting, energetic and fun music, accompanied by birds’ joyful singing and chirping. It’s really nice to listen to, and it does enhance the feel of those dog days of summer.
Symbols and wins
Fruit Shop Megaways has six reels, 2-7 symbols on each reel and up to staggering 117,649 paylines or Megaways. The number of symbols on a reel can be different on each spin, but they always carry the minimum of 2 and a maximum of 7 symbols. Paylines go, as normal, from left to right.
The fruits are the high-paying symbols, as the low-value symbols are 10, J, Q, K and A. The symbol with the game logo is a Wild that substitutes all other symbols. The Wild can only appear on reels 2-5.

Features
The number of free spins depends on both of the symbol and the length of the winning combination:
2 cherries: 1 free spin
During the free spins, any new winning combinations award you with extra spins. This time, also the low-value symbol wins work as follows:
The free spins continue until there are no more winning spins granting more extra spins, and the collected spins have been played.
The free spins start with the x1 multiplier which grows by one with each winning spin. The maximum is 10 times the original win, making 6 cherries pay 125x your bet.
My experiences
Fruit Shop Megaways sits well with the other modern-day slots, even though still a bit ascetic and plain in comparison. To me, the original slot was never really a hit because it felt too difficult to obtain any big wins and with the free spins being the only feature. Remembering these, I got even more fascinated by the new Megaways game.
I have to admit, the slight boredom did get to me even in Fruit Shop Megaways. The game looks promising and very alluring with the Megaways reels, but the results tended to get to mediocre levels at best. Of course, it’s understandable that it’s even harder to get high-paying symbol wins as they also trigger the free spins. Still, I’d wish NetEnt would’ve added yet something more to the base game.
For a seasoned player, Fruit Shop Megaways is a bit two-folded experience. On the one hand, the free spins can hold generous surprises in the form of extra spins and win multipliers. But, on the other hand, it’s hard to get good wins from the base game and the base game just isn’t that interesting to play.
For a fan of classic slots, Fruit Shop Megaways is a must-try. The old classic looks beautiful with the updated animations and the modern smoothness but still has nice familiarity in it. For someone who looks forward to a variety of features and exciting gameplay, Fruit Shop Megaways might be a tad too dull. Either way, Fruit Shop Megaways, as its own, is a nice slot but could’ve done with more new ideas.

The year was 2013 when I first came across online casinos. Around the same time, I also began my career as a content writer, specializing in online casinos and casino games.
It's been an awesome journey, seeing how online casinos have evolved since the early 2000s to what they are today!
During these years I particularly fell in love with online slot games. I'm continuously amazed by how they've advanced from simple, three-reel slots to beautifully crafted games - sometimes working without reels entirely.
My favourite games are usually made by NetEnt and Play'n GO. Though it's hard to name just one all-time-favourite, Gonzo's Quest was the one that "reeled" me in.
