Slot tester's review Kati Saari
Are your jars jammin’? ‘Cause in Jammin’ Jars they are having some sweet moves! Collect clusters of fruit, get unlimited multipliers and win big in free spins.
Jammin’ Jars is a non-traditional slot game from Push Gaming. Released in 2018 it brings us a delicious set of sweet fruit and berries, which can grow into gigantic proportions under a rainbow rain. As Jammin’ Jars is not your typical fruit slot, despite having the fruit, it might seem hard to understand at first. But, there’s actually nothing more to it when one understands how the clusters work.
So, you can forget paylines and reels, and just focus on counting the symbols. If there are five or more same symbols on adjacent spots, it’s a win. The more the same symbols in a cluster, the bigger the payout.
Graphics & sound
Jammin’ Jars has a simple look without too much of a hassle. The fruit and berries look absolutely delicious, plump and glistening with water droplets. The background is a grid with blue and pink spotlights lazily waving around, and the game logo has a mirror ball behind it.
Of course, the music is something you can jam with - so refresh your memory from the dance floor, and get those disco moves ready!
I like the easy and relaxed feel of Jammin’ Jars. The music quickly got me tapping my toe, and even without flashy graphics or animation, the game is very enjoyable.
Symbols & wins
Jammin’ Jars doesn’t have reels, instead, the game is an 8x8 grid. The grid is filled with juicy fruit and berries, which can form clusters. A winning cluster has at least 5 identical symbols touching each other on adjacent spots.
The game also has cascading reels, meaning that all the winning clusters are removed after a payout and new symbols are dropped to the grid.
The rainbow feature starts by the spotlights moving more swiftly, and the grid gets dark. Then, down comes a rainbow, randomly placing one or more giant fruit to the grid.
The feature also can, very annoyingly, stop before any giant symbols are placed.
If you have ever played a NetEnt slot Gonzo’s Quest, then this feature should be very familiar - although in Gonzo it’s called an avalanche. This feature activates every time there’s a winning cluster on the grid, and it removes any winning symbols.
After the paying symbols have been removed, the rest of the symbols fall down and new symbols are added to the screen from the top. The feature continues, if new winning clusters are formed. If not, the spin has come to its end.
The colourful jamjars are the Wilds of the game, so they can substitute any other symbol. If it does, a multiplier is added to it and it jumps to a random adjacent spot. If the same jar substitutes another winning symbol, it gets a new multiplier.
While the other symbols get dropped down after a win with the cascading feature, the jar sticks on its place. Of course, when there are no more winning symbols, the jar gets flushed like all the other symbols when the player spins again.
When you get three or more jamjars on the grid and there are no more winning clusters, the game activates six free spins - with the jars and their collected multipliers from the base game included.
During the free spins, any jamjars that land on the grid stays in the game until the free spins end. Also, the multipliers on the jars don’t reset, which might result in some great wins.
I am usually very reserved with highly volatile games, and Jammin’ Jars isn’t really an exception - but I still do like it. I myself treat this slot like how I play Dead or Alive or Book of Dead, with small to medium bets and, by any means, not in a hurry.
The winnings from the base game are usually mediocre at best. However, if you manage to get three or more jars with good multipliers and enter to free spins with them, you might be in luck.
I myself have cashed out some decent wins from Jammin’ Jars with only 20 or 40p wagers, so unless you’re a high roller, I’d strongly recommend not to play this slot with higher than £1 bet.
