What secrets lie forgotten at the bottom of the ocean? It’s time to put on your diving gear and find that out in NetEnt’s slot game Ocean’s Treasure!
In this 2020 release, you get to explore an Atlantis-like city, sunken long ago for unknown reasons. These days, it’s inhabited mostly by fish, but you’ve heard stories of a legendary sea monster that lurks deep within the city’s treasure halls. But, it’s not the only surprise, as you also meet the beautiful Lady of the Seas who’s glad to help you along the way.
During the free spins, only those with the bravest hearts may enter the last room of the dark halls. There, the shadows quickly start moving as you swim inside and suddenly you’re staring in the eye of a giant Kraken! Will you ever reach the surface and breath the fresh air again? Do you dare to take on the challenge?
Graphics and sound
In addition to horror-themed games, I also love the underwater theme. Don’t know if that’s because of the stunning turquoise waters, or because I instantly start to hum the melody of Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid. Anyway, Ocean’s Treasure looks and sounds lovely. The graphics and animations look sharp and the treasures (the high-paying symbols) have a beautiful glow that really draws your eyes to them.
The music is a whole experience on its own, a grand orchestral symphony. I’d gladly listen to the game’s music track as it is, it’s simply that good.
Symbols and wins
Ocean’s Treasure is a slot game with five reels, each holding three symbols. There are 15 fixed paylines going from left to right, and the minimum wager is 15p.
It’s entirely up to you whether you want to play with cash or coins. Even if you choose coins, the game still shows the total value of a spin in cash. This feature is purely visual and does not affect the payouts.
Ocean’s Treasure has two kinds of Wilds. The regular Wilds are 1x1 symbols, and the special Wilds are stacked and they’re as tall as three symbols. The stacked Wilds only appear during the base game. Both Wilds substitute all other symbols except for Scatters.

Features
One or more Wilds during the free spins award you with two extra free spins. They also advance the level meter and when the meter is full, you get to swim to the next level.
All free spin features start from level 1 and each level has their own win multiplier as follows:
Level 1: wins get multiplied by 3
Level 2: wins get multiplied by 5
Level 3: wins get multiplied by 7
Level 4: wins get multiplied by 9
Level 5: wins get multiplied by 12
You can collect a maximum of 102 free spins. If you manage to get to the fifth level, you also get a bonus cash prize of 1,500 coins. With a minimum bet of 15p, this would mean a £15 instant bonus.
My experiences
I got a bit surprised by how traditional slot Ocean’s Treasure was, as the other releases from NetEnt around the time were nothing but. Street Fighter II, Druid’s Dreams, Gods of Gold: Infinireels… They’re all more or less non-traditional slot games and next to them, Ocean’s Treasure was really sticking out.
But it’s not a bad thing at all - to me, it’s irrelevant whether the slot looks traditional or not. Of course, if it’s not your basic three or five-reeled slot, it might draw more attention simply just by looking other than normal. However, some people still like their slots that resemble the classic slot games.
Ocean’s Treasure is a highly volatile slot with an RTP of 95.99%. This is not the best of combinations with an average hit frequency being 26.62%. However, I still did enjoy playing the slot and trying to trigger the free spins as it’s very obvious that that’s where the biggest wins are hiding. I did manage to meet the Kraken and the 1,500 instant bonus win is a nice touch but, as you might guess, this can be a chore to get to.
Despite the high volatility level and the RTP which leaves much to be desired, I really liked playing Ocean’s Treasure. The quality of the game is superb and getting to say hello to Kraken is always a rewarding experience.
