I enjoyed the clean design of this site, but the hidden deposit fee and lengthy verification process took away the joy.

The sign-up form here certainly felt refreshing to complete. It took things just one question at a time rather than being a full-on form. I entered all the usual details such as name, address, mobile number, etc., plus the setting for promotional messages. Once I’d been through every question, I clicked ‘Confirm,’ and a pop-up appeared to confirm that my account had been created successfully. Dismissing this I found myself in the main casino lobby with no further prompts showing but I realised that I wasn’t signed in which felt very odd.

Checking my inbox, I saw that I had an email with a verification link contained within it. I clicked the link which loaded up the casino site and a pop-up notice about the protection of customer funds. Clicking ‘I Confirm’ I was taken to the cashier page where I proceeded to drop some funds into my shiny new account.

Despite the solid design, there are some irritating little things, like the way the balances to the left of the screen don’t update in real-time when you’re playing a game, that really let this site down.

After attempting to make a deposit without claiming a bonus, I landed back on the promotions page and clicked on the ‘Welcome Bonus’ offer. Below the bonus terms was a ‘Claim Bonus’ button which I clicked on but a tiny red message appeared in the top right of the screen which said ‘Processing error’. I then found that I couldn’t make a deposit either and traced it down to a verification issue which meant I had to submit some documents before moving on. When I refreshed the page, I got a pop-up about verification which I needed to deal with before I could deposit and claim any bonuses.

Once my account was verified, I made a deposit and was sure to claim the welcome bonus in the process. The 100% bonus up to £50 was instantly credited to my account and displayed as a separate £40 ‘Bonus Money’ balance on my sidebar. On the bonus spin side of things I loaded up Book of Dead and after a notice saying I was playing with bonus cash, I got to the game, and a pop-up said I had ‘50 free rounds’. The spins were worth £0.10 each in real cash and I won a mighty £3.40 after playing them all. This didn’t instantly show on my account balance, but after refreshing the page, I saw the winning had been added to my real money balance.

Under my account settings, I could see the progress of my bonus wagering in the ‘Bonuses’ section. It was showing a remaining £2,400 of wagering requirements before I had used up any of the bonus cash. This works out as the astronomical 60x (D) wagering requirement on the 100% match of my £40 deposit as stated in the bonus terms. This was way too high to comprehend, so I forfeited the cash bonus and stuck with my real cash balance only.

Overall, I liked the real cash spins, which were nice to see, but the sky-high wagering on the cash bonus made it one to forget.

I found things nice and easy to navigate around, with a simple menu system showing all the game categories. This included a few bespoke game menus such as ‘Sticky Wins’ and ‘Drops and Wins’. It was also good to see that once I’d logged in, there was no scrolling promo banner on the screen, it was all about the games here.

First up I tried Immortal Romance where I landed a few decent wins, including £13.30 in one go from my £0.60 spins. Not a bad start I thought, that was until I hit the free spins round and landed a very pleasing £63.20 for my troubles. I moved on to Piggy Riches Megaways with some £0.60 spins but didn’t get my snout into anything big there. To finish up the slot games here, I took on some £0.45 spins on Dead or Alive II but didn’t trigger any features and came away empty-handed.

Switching over to the live casino, I had a few spins on Crazy Time, but none of the special games triggered, so there’s nothing to report there. The same was true on Texas Hold’em despite my best efforts I couldn’t beat the dealer here.

All the games I tried out on the desktop loaded and ran without any major issues. Sometimes on the more complex slots like Piggy Riches, I did experience a little bit of lag but nothing to ruin my experience here.

I loaded up Golden Glyph for some spins but clicking on 25 autoplay spins a message popped-up saying that there was a technical error and the game wouldn’t play. I tried Fire Joker instead, and that worked without any issues but with no wins to report on. Moving on to Big Bad Wolf, I had a series of £0.25 bets and won back just enough to keep ticking over.

Apart from that one issue on Golden Glyph, the games played without any issues and looked good on my Android device using the Chrome mobile browser. The menu system was pretty neat, and it was easy to find all the same functions as I had seen on the desktop version. I liked the fact that my balances were shown clearly at the top of the screen regardless of which screen I was on.

I wanted to contact support about the error I was getting when I tried to make a withdrawal. I clicked on the ‘Help’ tab on the side menu, but it informed me that live chat was offline. This was 5 pm, and it didn’t say when the service would be back online. There was a box to enter a message, so I did this, hit submit and waited for a response.

I got a reply in just under 5 hours which told me that I needed to cancel my bonus before I could withdraw my real cash balance, but they didn’t say how. I tried again with the live chat and had better success when I got a reply within 10 seconds of starting a new chat. The agent was pretty responsive but got the bonus balance amount wrong, and I had to send them a screenshot to prove this. Once we’d established the right amount, they did cancel the bonus right away so I could then make a withdrawal. Overall, the help I received didn’t fill me with confidence, and the lack of live chat available during the day is a big minus for me.

The first time I tried to deposit after signing up at VoodooDreams, I got a pop-up message informing me that I needed to verify my account before I could proceed. The message was specifically asking me to ‘submit a proof of identity and a proof of address to verify my account details’. I clicked the link which said ‘Continue to Upload Documents’ which took me to the main verification page. There were 2 boxes on display, one for the proof of address and one for the proof of identity, both with an ‘Upload’ button to submit the documents.

I didn’t hear anything from the casino for a few days, so I decided to log back in and chase them up. However, once I logged in again, I got no pop-ups about verification so decided to try and make a deposit. This went through, meaning that my account was now fully verified. I double-checked my email and spam folders, but I’d got nothing to update me about the verification being complete. This is a totally ridiculous approach from the casino as I might never have come back and they would have lost a new player. Because of the lack of notification, I can’t say how long the verification process actually took. All I know is that it was less than 3 days!

Things got worse when I attempted to make a withdrawal as I got another notification asking me to provide further proof of ID and payment. For this, they wanted an image of me from the waist up holding my ID (Driving Licence) with my full arm in view. This is the most specific ID proof request I’ve ever had, and it seemed a little extreme to me. They also required a bank card image but were specific about showing the first 6 digits and last 4 digits of the card number, again, bizarrely specific when most casinos want only 4 digits from either end showing.

This time around, full verification took over 5 days to process, which was a massive frustration and delayed my withdrawal by over a week. I found the instructions clear enough but the process was slow despite me sending the required docs on a Monday.

After confirming my casino account via email, I landed on the deposit page which displayed a simple 1-page form. I filled in my card details and the payment method automatically updated itself to Mastercard Debit. I hit ‘Deposit’ and then got a message reminding me that I was about to deposit without claiming a bonus. This was strange as I didn’t see any way to claim a bonus up until this moment. I clicked on ‘Claim Bonus’ and landed back on the Promotions page with my deposit’s attempt being cancelled. At this point, I got locked out of my account for a while until the verification process was complete. I’m not sure why the site let me get to the verge of depositing before this process kicked in and I found it pretty bloody annoying.

Coming back once my account was verified, I completed the form as before, making sure to have claimed the welcome bonus first. At no point during the deposit was there any indication of any additional fees, and yet once I’d hit ‘Deposit’ and my payment had gone through I got a notification that I’d been charged £41 in total to cover a £1 fee applied by the casino. I find this unacceptable in 2 ways. Firstly, the lack of warning has got to be illegal, anyone should always know what they are going to be charged before confirming a transaction wherever it is. Secondly, the fee is charged on top of the deposit amount and not taken from it. I would expect to still be charged £40 but have the fee deducted from that, making my actual deposit £39. To add this on top is very shady behaviour in my book.

When it came to claiming my winnings, things didn’t get any easier. I went to the ‘Withdraw’ page of my account and entered my full real cash balance to claim it. My card details were already saved, so I only had to click on the Withdraw button. When I did this an error box appeared, asking me to ensure that all details were correct. There wasn’t really anything here to be incorrect, so I contacted support to help investigate the issue. They replied saying that I needed to cancel my bonus before I could make a withdrawal. This was pretty annoying as most casinos I’ve played at do this automatically when I’ve requested a withdrawal.

Once I had got a casino support agent to cancel my bonus balance, I was able to make a withdrawal, or so I thought. After checking over the details and hitting the ‘Withdraw’ button, I got a message saying that my request was now pending. Despite this, I had no pending withdrawals showing, which was a massive concern. I checked my emails only to find out that further account verification was required.

After a delay of another 5 days for this to happen, my withdrawal was finally approved and the funds instantly hit my bank account. I’m hoping now that everything is verified that withdrawals will be much quicker although the casino did warn that any change of payment provider could result in more checks.
